Extra care supported accommodation combines retirement housing with care and support. People living in extra care housing enjoy the freedom and independence of having their own front door, along with the peace of mind of knowing that care staff are available when they are needed.
What is the difference between ‘support’ and ‘care’?
Support assists you with such things as shopping, going for walks, attending appointments and engaging in activities. Care can include help with washing, getting dressed, preparing meals, managing your medications and using the toilet, as well as domestic assistance.
When you rent a flat at Trees, support is included in the rental, along with a “core care provision” which provides staff available 24/7 to respond to any kind of emergency for your comfort and security. However, our tenants here have additional care needs and so Hill Homes Care Ltd was set up to provide all care in-house. Care hours can be purchased from Hill Homes Care Ltd and funded by either a Local Authority Personal Budget or your own finances, depending on your circumstances.
Our tenants at Nuffield Lodge, a sheltered housing scheme, have fewer care needs but are still able to purchase care hours from Hill Homes Care Ltd as required.
Is it a requirement to buy my additional care from you?
No, we do not impose unnecessary conditions on our tenants as we want you to feel at home here, so you are free to make your own arrangements for additional care as you wish. However, many of our residents feel happier when their care provider is on site and easily contacted.
